Metadata-only preview

Select documents in the frontend preview

Learn what document selection does today and what ingestion will require in the future.

The current frontend recognizes document selection as part of a potential RAG workflow, but it does not process the underlying file bytes on a server.

Supported format labels #

The Document Loader node lists PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, and MD as supported document types in its interface metadata. These labels describe the intended input types and available frontend choices, not verified production ingestion support.

What happens when you select a file #

The interface can represent selected file metadata for preview purposes. It does not send the file into a processing pipeline, create chunks, generate embeddings, or save the content into a vector store.

Why this matters #

An uploaded-looking item in the UI should not be treated as searchable knowledge. The pipeline remains a design until ingestion services and persistence exist.

Read Document Loader for the node's intended role and Product availability for the current service boundary.
